Why are you closing the store?

Even before we opened Rung Boutique’s doors seven years ago, our founder and president Ali Kindle Hogan knew Rung could evolve into something bigger. Through Ali’s work with Rung Boutique, she has met many inspirational women, learned a great deal about the needs of women in our community, and made meaningful connections to dozens of hardworking agencies that help women in various ways. The more Ali learned, and the more connections she made, the more she was compelled to do more.

Today Ali knows how Rung can better realize her vision for a stronger, more independent, and more successful community of women. After two years of researching best practices, new approaches, and innovative strategies for helping women achieve sustainability, the time has come launch a new concept.

The new Rung will be a “single source” providing and connecting the services that women who lack economic independence need to reach the next “rung” of success in their lives. To give the re-envisioned Rung the focus and attention it deserves, the decision was made to bring operations to a close at the resale shop this year.

When will the new concept be launched?

A lot of work is already underway, and we will be eager to share updates on the progress of the new concept as they are available.

What will happen to all the donations after the store closes?

After the store closes to the public on September 30, 2017, we will be hosting private shopping events for the charities we serve. Women who are being helped by these charities will be invited to come to these private events and shop for free.

Will we still get our tax receipts?

Absolutely. We will mail 2017 itemized tax receipts by December 31, 2017. For more information on donating and getting the most tax-deductible value for your donations to Rung, please click here. Donations adhering to our guidelines will be accepted through August 31, 2017.

I donated earlier this year. Can I take back my donations?

Unfortunately, no. Your donations may have already been resold to raise money for our charities, or given away to women in need. Also, when donations are received they are immediately sorted by season, item type, and a few other, very specific criteria. We do not have the resources to locate the items you previously donated to be able to return them to you.

Where should I take my donations after you close?

We have compiled a list of alternative resale shops where you can donate or consign your clothing and accessories after Rung Boutique closes.

Where will women who need clothing go to get it now?

Dress for Success Midwest is an excellent resource for women, and men, in need of professional attire. Churches are often a great resource for clothing, home goods, and other items someone in crisis might need, and a lot of the agencies we support have connections to other retailers and clothing banks that can help in times of need. Please visit their websites for more information.

How will this affect the organizations that Rung supports?

The organizations we support will continue to serve their missions, and our founder and president Ali will continue to personally stay connected to them and the work they are doing. It is our hope that friends of Rung will also continue to stay connected and support our partner charities.
